East Midlands Regional and Speciality Foods Mall Project

In 2002 Peakhill Associates presented to emda a proposal for a regional showcase for local and specialist food producers. PA was subsequently commissioned by emda to carry out the feasibility assessment and full research for the project. PA’s approach was to work with the client to design and commission a series of specialist work packages to deliver the result. PA recruited specialists in qualitative and quantitative market research, visioning architects, land agents and logistics analysis. PA developed the overall business plan and subjected this to a financial due diligence analysis.

The remit included developing a vision for a low carbon footprint building concept related to a specific potential site on the outskirts of Nottingham as illustrated above. The vision included the use of sustainable materials and processes for the construction of the showcase building and its logistics hub with the objective of achieving the potential of a BREEAM project rating of excellent.
